Do Do Do 03:22
I remember the bliss Of that wonderful kiss I knew that no boy could ever get more joy From any little miss I remember it quite It was a wonderful night Oh, how I'd adore it If we could encore it Oh, do do do what you done done done before, baby Do do do what a do do do adore, baby Let's try again, sigh again, fly again to heaven Baby, see, it's A B C, I love you and you love me I know know know what a beau beau beau should do, baby So don't don't don't say it won't won't won't come true, baby My heart begins to hum, dum dee dum, dee dum dum dum So do do do what you done done done before
Hey bartender, gotta pull up a stool My heart is heavy, been played for a fool Things are quiet here, I could use an ear That’s nice of you, make it a double Hey sugar, we all get the blues It’s the human condition to get battered and bruised Take a load off now, it’s late anyhow Just relax, I’ll make it a double I never thought it could happen to me It’s a sad, sad story, now don’t you agree? I’ve heard them all and some of them twice But yours takes the cake, here, have some more ice I feel lighter now, thanks for the chat I can’t remember the last time I sat It’s been a pleasure, honey, come back and see me And for you, anytime, I’ll make it a double ~~Instrumental~~ Hello darling, good to see you tonight You seem much better, are you doing alright? Just pull a seat up, and put your feet up You’ll have the usual? Mmm hmm, I’ll make it a double Yes, thanks so much for your kind attention It means so much more than I could ever mention I know you’re closing now, you sure I’m not imposing now? Hmm, that’s sweet, make it a double Who would have thought we could end up this way Eager to see you at the end of each day? Let’s say we team up, goodbye to trouble Cause life is twice as nice when you’re a part of a double I’ll close up shop now, switch off the sign It’s my turn to tell you what I’ve had on my mind I’m thinking twosome, that’s me and yousome We’ll make it a double (a double) we’ll make it a double
Tea for Two 04:08
Picture me upon your knee With tea for two and two for tea Just me for you and you for me alone Nobody near us to see us or to hear us No friends or relations on weekend vacations We won't have it known That we own a telephone, dear Day will break and you'll awake And I will bake a sugar cake For you to take for everyone to see And we will raise a family A boy for you and a girl for me Can't you see how happy we would be?
I don’t have to go to bed I got a small day tomorrow A small day tomorrow I don’t have to use my head I’ve got a small day tomorrow I can sleep the day away And it won’t cause too much sorrow So tonight this cat will play She’s got a small day tomorrow Now all those big wheels With all their big deals They’re going to need their sleep But I’m a drop out Who’d rather cop out Than run with all the sheep Honey child tonight’s the night There’s a car I can borrow till the day after tomorrow We can swing till broad daylight We got a small day tomorrow
You know it isn’t fair You know it isn’t nice My back’s to the wall, I’m not going to fall For a wolf in a sheep disguise I’m no stranger To your danger Saying this is just a little dance I see you watching I see you waiting And I have no doubt what you’re all about But reason is fading No salvation From this temptation To have just one little dance Ooh, you are trouble You’re the devil in disguise You will set us both aflame With that flicker in your eyes I should ignore you And I can assure you Many a day I managed to stay On the high road before you Anticipation Intoxication With the thought of one little dance Instrumental You know it isn’t fair I know it isn’t right But your spell is spun, and you know you’ve won I have nothing left to fight You have caught me Good and got me In your tantalizing dance Pull me closer . . . it’s just a little dance
Always 05:01
VERSE Everything went wrong and the whole day long I'd feel so blue For the longest while, I forgot to smile Then I met you Now that my blue days have passed Now that I've found you at last... CHORUS I'll be loving you always With a love that's true always When the things you've planned Need a helping hand I will understand Always, always Days may not be fair always That's when I'll be there, always Not just for an hour, Not just for a day, Not just for a year, But always
CHORUS Lord, I’m afraid I have lost the path Can’t find my way no more I will wander long in this dark valley And never find heaven’s door On the day I was born, the sun shone bright Your path ran straight and clear I sang your songs and I walked your way And I felt your footsteps near I followed it up and I followed it down I followed it straight and true I followed it thick and I followed it thin And I stayed right close to you Oh, Lord, I confess I was led astray Now my soul is dark and worn I have searched in vain to find my way To the path where I was born
When they begin the beguine It brings back the sound of music so tender It brings back a night of tropical splendor It brings back a memory ever green I`m with you once more, under the stars And down by the shore, an orchestra`s playing And even the palms seem to be swaying When they begin the beguine To live it again is past all endeavor Except when that tune clutches my heart And there we are, swearing to love forever And promising never, never to part What moments divine, what rapture serene 'Till clouds came along to disperse the joys we had tasted And now when I hear people curse the chance that was wasted I know but too well what they mean So don`t let them begin the beguine Let the love that was once a fire remain an ember Let it sleep like the dead desire I only remember When they begin the beguine Oh yes, let them begin the beguine, make them play 'Till the stars that were there before return above you 'Till you whisper to me once more, darling, I love you And we suddenly know What heaven we`re in When they begin the beguine When they begin the beguine
I believe in star signs and I believe in film romances I believe in in fantasy and I believe with just one glance he's crazy for my eyes 'cause I believe the lies of handsome men I believe in witchcraft and I believe in Cinderella I believe in gypsies and I believe I cast a spell that sends him to the skies 'cause I believe the lies of handsome men Somewhere in the corner of my mind I'm not a fool, completely blind But even though he's hooked me on his line I find the pleasures been mine I believe in love songs, they seem to know just what I'm feeling I believe in Prince Charming I never guess he's double dealing How my spirits rise Believing in the lies of handsome men Somehwere in a dark and quiet place The truth and I come face to face And even if His Highness disappears I keep some stunning souvenirs So I believe in heros and I expect my happy ending Wishing on some rainbow I pretend he's not pretending Someday I'll get wise But for now I need the lies of handsome men
Well you asked me to be your escort, baby, on graduation day Wrote me a note, here's what you wrote You cried boo hoo hoo And your tears were killin' me babe Wah wah wah. Think you better straighten out Gimme a break Straighten out If you can I heard you knockin' but you couldn't come in And we went walkin' down the road to the bin That was when you were ten, now is now, then was then Ha ha ha (Do you hear me laughin’ now, babe?) Ha ha ha (scat) Well I telephoned you and I asked you if you wanted to go to That other comin'-out do You said goodbye, started makin’ me cry I said boo hoo hoo 'Cause your leavin' was shakin' me up Wah wah wah. Think you better straighten out Gimme a break Straighten out If you can Wah wah wah...
Heaven please send to all mankind Understanding and peace of mind If it's not asking too much Please send me someone to love, someone to love Show the world how to get along Peace will enter when hate is gone So if it's not asking too much Please send me someone to love, someone to love Nights I lay awake and ponder the world's troubles And my answer is always the same Unless man puts an end to all of his sin Hate will put the world in a flame, what a shame Just because I'm in misery I’m not asking for sympathy But if it's not asking too much Please send me someone to love

Pairings: playful and passionate with bluesy undertones. An intoxicating voice paired with Canada's finest jazz musicians, including David Restivo, George Koller, Reg Schwager, and more.

This is the second recording from the award-winning Fritzen, a Whitehorse-based artist who came up with an adventurous concept for the album. As the title suggests, every song features a pairing of Fawn’s voice with one particular instrument.

The couplings on different tunes include acoustic bass, guitar, piano, prepared piano, percussion, and a saxophone section, resulting in a rich variety of tones and musical moods. The instrumental formatting means the arrangements are generally on the sparse side, but there is a large dynamic range to Pairings. The settings place a clear spotlight on the vocals, and Fritzen’s warm, strong, and clear voice is certainly up to the task.

"The Yukon jazz singer makes the minimalism work on her second album 'Pairings'. By limiting herself to very few backing players - and in most cases, just a single supporting musician - she creates a lot of open room for her sublime singing and her collaborators' superb sense of swing. I'd like to suggest one more pairing...all jazz lovers' ears and this wonderful recording."
