Once you held my eyes, I held my breath And all was still and I knew that until you said you loved me Nothing in the world could break the spell that you had cast And yet it couldn’t last another day So now when you are far Still I hear your call But there are only walls I can’t find the door that opens to you You have taken half my heartbeat left behind a sigh, I Sink into this bittersweet goodbye Once you held your heart wide open Courage in the wounds and How I longed to sooth that sweet confusion Nothing in the world could solve this reckless situation Nothing for us but to bless the day And even though we knew What we’d have to do The writing on the wall Didn’t tell us how to be unbroken You have taken half my heartbeat left behind a sigh, I Sink into this bittersweet goodbye That moment when you saw my soul Has coloured all my life I sink into this slow and golden Bittersweet goodbye

There's another sun rising So you're another day older too Another path her for the choosing Another day of watcha gonna do It's not easy choosing I know your roots are strong But think of all you're losing And everything that's wrong There's no way to tell you How your pain can make me cry And wonder why You are woman You are beautiful Inside, outside Body and soul You're a lover You're a tiger You are stronger Stronger than you know There's your reflection in the mirror She’s someone you've been fighting a long, long time Maybe today you'll choose to love her ‘Cause your fight's got a reason, but no rhyme And there's no way of knowing Just what it's like inside These masks that we're all wearing Because we need to hide That we're all less than perfect And or fears can make us cry And wonder why REFRAIN (Instrumental) Maybe it's the right thing To stay along this road And I will pray for healing For your heart to be whole There's no need to tell you How your smile can make me cry No wonder why REFRAIN

What do you do with a broken heart? Who was holding it when it slipped and shattered? Look at this rainbow around my feet Shards of the sum of the somethings that mattered. In dreams you may dream of the dreams mislaid I was making plans when the world shook and shifted Glittering fragments await my brush Picking the pieces apart and uplifted Marvel of polish and patina Time suspended now, this moment lingers Sorting these pebbles of rain and rust Holding this life in my uncertain fingers In dreams you may dream of the dreams that stayed I am holding space for my grief sweet and sacred Glittering memories await my gaze Shining like gems in the dark, still unfaded solo Palettes of pathos and empathy Rearranging life in new paths and patterns Drawing a lantern with every breath Breathing new light into uncharted caverns In dreams you may dream of the dreams to come I am forging my fate in this life I’ve been gifted Glittering moments await me still Gathering glass into art, life unscripted

I'll make a little noise Yeah make a little noise I have a voice Now is the time to be loud and proud I'll make a little noise Yeah make a little noise Can't turn me down I've got things to say I spent too long being sweet, being nice I said yes when I meant no Now that I'm older and wiser I know I can't accept the status quo I'll make a little noise (drums) Yeah, make a little noise (drums) Don't tell me that I'm being too loud Just make a little noise Yeah make a little noise I'll have my say Can't keep me down, you can't drown me out I'll make a little noise Yeah make a little noise I'll break the rules It's my turn today I spent too long being tame, being good I said no when I meant yes I always did what they told me I should It's time to be rebellious I'll make a little noise (drums) Just like one of the boys (drums) Come stand with me It's time to be loud

Gaslight 05:12
She says that you’re insincere That you spin the world into lies She says that you’re only here For the payoff, for the prize She says that you’re immature That your mind is like a child’s She says that you’re dangerous That you’re devious, you’re wild. She says so many things That you go into a spin You start to think like her But just when you begin, you know it’s Gaslight (gaslight) Ohh, gaslight (gaslight) Ohh, gaslight She says you’re delusional That you can’t tell fact from fable She says that you’re frivolous That you’re sneaky and unstable She says you manipulate All the people in your life Falsely sweet and fiercely mean With a tongue sharp as a knife For a moment I can see her Through her damaged soul and all Sh’es talking to you but she’s looking At the mirror on the wall

Come dance with me My heart never felt so free But with you love is new Now I see all the joy there can be And when I'm with you There is nothing I can't do Darling, I know, every day is an adventure to share with you Once I was lost in the darkness of shame When you came with light We were strangers to each other and to ourselves Now I know how to love Like I've never loved before And to be loved, and to be loved Now and forever
8.
Show me your heart All your joy and trouble Show me your heart Does it look like mine? Can you really go it alone? Could you use a hand up? Show me your heart And I’ll throw you a line Did you ever feel you had the devil on your shoulders? Did you ever feel your sins sink you like boulders? If you want to start fresh again, you may not believe it It’s never to late to get a reprieve REFRAIN Did you ever feel your web getting too tangled? Did you ever feel your soul getting too mangled? You can always call on my friend, I’ll show you compassion Today’s a new day, the past is the past REFRAIN

Dragonfly 04:56
I was a child Down by the lakeshore Dragonflies sailing Shimmering wings Gossamer fairies So winsome and wild Those magical mornings are ever engraved on my mind Once I was lying Face to the sun Dragonfly landed Close to my heart Looked into my eyes Straight into my soul And suddenly shifted the sky so the whole world stood still I never knew such Primal elation Luminous rapture that tenderly captured my soul Then my eyes opened And fancy had flown Dragonfly, that was the moment I knew who I was ~ Instrumental ~ Sun and wind shifting Water shines bright Lake made of starlight Calling my name Solitude breathing A prayer to the earth Dragonflies dancing to worship the water and sky Now in the winter Water lies still Tenderly shrouded Under the snow Sweet benediction Of peaceful repose Shadows of dragonflies flickering just out of sight Fly away, fairy Back to your homeland Part of your essence remains in my presence and heart Someday you'll find me Or I will find you Dragonfly, my sweetest wishes of love go with you Dragonfly, my sweetest wishes of love go with you

about

How to Say Sorry and Other Lessons is Fawn's third album, and the first composed entirely of original material. Co-written with pianist/composer/life-partner David Restivo, the music encompasses swing, funk, pop, gospel, and even a touch of reggae.

Created in the tumultuous time surrounding the end of Fawn's 13-year marriage, the songs examine classic themes as well as feminist issues: heartbreak, consent, gender roles, infidelity, shame, humility, and redemption.

A thrilling emotional ride that leaves listeners both thoughtful and joyful.
